Friday was very tough for the family of Shawn Masters. His body was found last January, bound and burned in a field in rural Logan County. His mother now wears his picture close to her heart.

But nothing can fill the void his murder left behind.

“Why'd they hurt him so bad?” His mother cried outside of the courtroom during a court hearing for several of the defendants. “They tied him and beat him and burn him. I just want my son back.”

Originally, there were eight people charged and accused of taking some part in the murder.

But one has had charges dropped; Jesse James Dalton.

He was in prison at the time and was accused of ordering the brutal beating.

But Angel Munoz is accused of stabbing Masters, and having friends help her dump the body and then set it on fire.

Friday Twila Wise and Angel Munoz pleaded guilty to their part in the crime.

Wise received a five-year sentence for Desecrating a Body.

And Munoz accepted a life sentence for the Murder and a seven-year sentence for the Desecration Charge.

John Worchester also pleaded guilty to being an Accessory to the Murder.

He received a five-year sentence.

Johnny Snow waived his right to a preliminary hearing.

Now he, Quentin Goodwin, Tyson Lott and Brandy Hanson are all waiting for their trial dates to be set.

Hanson's attorney said she has agreed to testify about what happened that January night.

And that is something the Shawn Masters' family desperately wants to know.

“I mean he used to be a cage fighter,” said his father Don Masters. “That's why I couldn't figure out how they did that.”

Don Masters father said his son was an easy going person who had one bad year, coming off of a divorce, custody battle, and then hanging around the wrong kind of people.

He just hopes all those accused stay in jail for a very long time.

“You know they know what they did. They screwed up,” said Don Masters. “They'll pay for it.”

The Masters family said they plan on being at every one of the trials should they go forward.
