A fourth skunk found in Edmond has been tested positive for rabies.

Edmond Animal Services posted on its Facebook page Tuesday night, saying all four skunks were located east of Interstate 35.

Officials said they do not want to cause panic or alarm. They want to remind people to make sure all their animals, including dogs, cats, livestock and more, have a current rabies vaccination.

Officials ask residents to not attempt to handle skunks or any wildlife. Instead, call animal services if you encounter sick or injured wildlife of any kind.

According to animal services, there hadn't been a confirmed positive case of rabies in Edmond in about 10 years prior to this year, and now four cases have been confirmed since the beginning of 2015.
