Sunday's memorial marathon was full of touching moments and one in particular came from some of the metro's bravest.

Caleb Bryant and Garrett Matlock are Midwest City firefighters who were walking in the half marathon in full bunker gear. At about mile 11, they came upon a woman who was physically exhausted, and they helped her finish the next two miles.

“We wanted to make sure that the training and the effort she put in to get that far that she finished it under her own power,” said Bryant.

“She just kept pushing, kept trying. We kept going to make sure she could finish by herself. She worked hard,” said Matlock.

Scott Downard, a Norman High School track and cross country coach was the first marathoner to cross the finish line in just over two and a half hours.
