Playing in its first extra-inning game of the season, No. 5 Oklahoma suffered a 4-2 setback in eight innings against Kansas Friday night at Arrocha Ballpark.

The loss drops the Sooners to 40-7 on the season and 12-2 in the Big 12 standings, while Kansas improves to 35-8 overall and 5-5 in league play. Oklahoma still has a 3.5 game lead in the conference title race over Baylor and Texas, while the Jayhawks are 5.0 games behind.

Kansas only mustered three hits off of OU starter Paige Parker, but two of those hits were two-run homers as OU's three-game winning streak in the series was snapped. Parker didn't allow a hit until the fifth inning when Chaley Brickey hit a two-run homer to tie the game at 2-2. In the eighth, Daniella Chavez hit a walk-off, two-run homer.

Parker is now 21-5 on the season as she threw a career-high 7.1 innings. She allowed four runs on three hits with seven strikeouts and five walks.

Shelby Pendley was 1-for-2 in the game with two RBI. She hit a sacrifice fly in the third inning and added an RBI single in the fifth.

Needing one home run to set the all-time homer record, Lauren Chamberlain was 1-for-2 with a triple and two walks.
