New information is being released about a deadly car accident that took the life of a metro teenager.

The teen's car crashed on Northwest Expressway near Council Road early Thursday morning, but it's what detectives discovered inside the teen's car that's sparking a whole new investigation.

In the short span of just six days, three young men all connected to the Oklahoma City School district have been killed.

"Our grief counselors have been busy this week. Sadly, when something like this happens, we're able to send those grief counselors out, not only to work with the students, but also the staff members who have a connection with each student in those schools," said OKCPS spokesperson Tierney Tinnin

Tinnin told News 9 she can't recall a time that many students had been killed in such a short time span.

On April 17, John Marshall High school sophomore Cleatis “CJ” Davis died in a car crash near 122nd and Portland. News 9 actually featured Davis in a “Beyond the Bell” story last year while on a college visit.

Tragically, two days later Star Spencer High School student Christopher Johnson was gunned down near his Midwest City home. He was described as quiet with a big smile.

Then early Thursday after midnight, police say 17-year-old Brian Durini was speeding down Northwest Expressway near Council Road when he lost control of his Silver Volkswagen Passat, slid across oncoming traffic lanes, slammed into several trees before crashing into a Panda Express drive-thru.

Durini died at the scene and police say drugs or alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.

However, inside Durini's car investigators found a stolen gun recently taken from a smash and grab burglary at Sooner State Pawn Shop.

"We do not know how it got in there. We don't know at this point who all of the suspects are in that case, just one arrest made in that case," said Sgt. Gary Knight.

Quashawn Wilson, 19, was arrested in the burglary. Detectives say, so far they don't have any information that links Durini to the smash and grab.

Durini attended Emerson High School, but hadn't been enrolled since February.
