A former little league coach's fate rested in the hands of a jury Wednesday evening.

Chad Eric Casula, 43, was charged with lewd acts with a child under 16 in August 2013 after a 13-year-old girl told friends at sleepover that Casula made her do sexually inappropriate things when she was younger.

The allegations were made several years later -- in the midst of a contentious divorce between Casula and the victim's mother.

During the two-day trial, seven witnesses testified including the alleged victim.

The victim, now 15, testified when she was 9 years old, Casula would get in the shower and make her "wash him" including his private parts.

Further testimony from the lead detective revealed there was limited investigation in the case. A search of the home and interviews with witnesses were not conducted.

Instead, criminal charges were presented solely on the word of the victim and her mother.

Scott Adams, a prominent Oklahoma City defense attorney argued on Casula's behalf, had investigators actually gone to the home to investigate they would've found evidence to contradict the victim's story.

At the end of the day, the defense felt confident the state failed to meet the burden of proof and chose not to call any witnesses.

The state and defense spent two hours making closing arguments.

The jury began its deliberations at 5:15 p.m.

Just after 9:00 p.m. the jury returned a non-guilty verdict.
