A simple traffic stop Monday morning has law enforcement continuing their search for the wanted man. The Cleveland County Sheriff's office calls the wanted man dangerous.

The Cleveland County Sheriff's deputy pulled over Daniel Fletcher's '95 white Chevy van for what should have been a simple traffic stop Monday morning near 180th Avenue SE and Newberry Road.

“This deputy notices that something wasn't right with the equipment on this vehicle,” said Meghan McCormick, Cleveland County Sheriff's Office.

The deputy spotted a modified exhaust pipe on the van. Fletcher turned off the van when the deputy approached him, but gave the deputy a fake name and birth date.

“He asked him his age and as soon as he asked him his age is when Mr. Fletcher drove off,” said McCormick.

The deputy took off following the van until it stopped behind a home. Fletcher and his passenger, Heather Anderson, began running.

Multiple law enforcement agencies were brought in to the far east Norman neighborhood to search for the fleeing duo. With the help of Oklahoma City's AirOne helicopter and a K9 unit Anderson was found about an hour alter with behind some trees. However, Fletcher remains missing.

“This is a dangerous person that we'd like to see off the streets,” McCormick said.

Anderson is in jail tonight for obstruction charges.

Court records show Fletcher was convicted of first-degree rape in Cleveland County in 2003.

If you know of Daniel Fletcher's whereabouts, call Cleveland County Sheriff at (405) 701-8888, Tip Line at (405) 701-8870 or Crime Stoppers at (405) 701-8872.
