The Oklahoma State football team hosted its 2015 spring game Saturday at Boone Pickens Stadium, with the white team defeating the orange team, 31-13.

“I couldn't be any more pleased with our team,” coach Mike Gundy said. “I don't know the stats, but we came out of the game healthy, and they said we had about 16,000 fans, which I couldn't be happier about with the forecast, so we really appreciate the people coming out and it ended up being a great day."

The white team got on the board first as senior cornerback Kevin Peterson returned an interception 24 yards for a score on the orange team's first possession of the game. The orange team answered with a pair of Matt Hockett field goals to cut the lead to 7-6, including a 25-yarder later in the first quarter and a 48-yarder on the first possession of the second.

Rennie Childs, Zac Veatch and Mason Rudolph helped the white team build its lead to 14-6 lead only a minute later with a 60-yard run from Childs that set up a 10-yard touchdown pass from Rudolph to Veatch. The white squad never looked back from there, scoring two more touchdowns on rushes from Childs and Caleb Muncrief and adding a field goal from Kevin King.

Quarterback J.W. Walsh took in a five-yard carry for a score in the final seconds of the second quarter to round out the scoring for the orange squad.

Several Cowboy athletes had impressive performances in the three-quarter game. Team leaders included James Washington and Chris Lacy, who both surpassed 100 yards receiving, and Childs, who finished with 83 rushing yards. Standouts on the defensive side included cornerbacks Kevin Peterson, Darius Curry and Ramon Richards, who all recorded interceptions, and Jerel Morrow, Jordan Sterns, Seth Jacobs and Chad Whitener, who all recorded at least six tackles.

There were several notable plays in the contest. In addition to Childs' 60-yard rush, freshman John Kolar completed a 52-yard pass to Lacy, Rudolph hit James Washington for a 46-yard gain and J.W. Walsh connected with Keenen Brown for a 28-yard completion, to name a few. Jacobs, Whitener, Gyasi Akem, Emmanuel Ogbah, Jordan Brailford and Cole Walterscheid were also credited with sacks, and Vincent Taylor forced a fumble that was recovered by Josh Mabin.

The 2015 spring game concluded the spring practice schedule for Oklahoma State football. OSU's season is scheduled to begin on Sept. 3 when the Cowboys face Central Michigan in Mount Pleasant, Mich.
