OKC Zoo Plans Fourth Birthday Bash For Elephant, Malee

The Oklahoma City Zoo invites the public to celebrate Malee's Fourth Birthday Bash on Sunday, April 19, 2015, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

There will be cake for thousands, party favors for guests and elephants.

Malee was born at the OKC Zoo on April 15, 2011, weighing in at 304 pounds. The celebration of Malee will also include her four-month-old sister Achara.

The party starts at 1 p.m. at the Elephant Habitat with free giveaways and treats provided by local bakeries. Guests can sample treats, while supplies last, provided by Johnnies Sweet Creations and Bakery; Café 501 (Classen Curve); Sara Sara Cupcakes; The Bakery of Whole Foods Market (Oklahoma City); and Nothing Bundt Cakes.

There will also be a birthday card to sign for Malee.

At 2 p.m., guests will want a seat at the free daily elephant presentation in the Elephant Pavilion as the party continues with complimentary Malee buttons, while supplies last. Join Zoo staff in singing “Happy Birthday” to Malee and watch as she blows out the candle on her own cupcake.

After the presentation, guests will get to watch as all the Zoo's Asian elephants, including adult females, Asha and Chandra, bull Rex, Malee and Achara celebrate in their yards with specially made, Zoo-approved cakes.
