Oklahoma's Alcohol Beverage Laws Enforcement commission was out Wednesday night, with an 18-year-old ally. They were making sure stores around the metro aren't selling alcohol to anyone underage.
Wednesday evening, the ABLE Commission made several stings.
"I don't want to take a chance,” the owner of C and C Liquor in Midwest City said. “I have two kids. So, no."
She said a lot people come into her store. She knows the regulars, but there are some who try to pull a fast one. They're underage, and the most common excuse they give is they forgot the ID.
Anyone who attempts to make a purchase inside this liquor and appears to be under 40 is asked for an ID including the 18-year-old working with authorities. He used his own license and his birthdate was clearly visible. Before he was sent to try and buy drinks he wasn't old enough to purchase, agents sat him down and went over the rules.
His first stop was Cousin's Discount Liquor in Midwest City. They told him no, but the "no" wasn't so quick at the next store, A and A Liquor.
After a couple of workers there consulted about his age, they finally sent him out the door empty handed.
"It is a criminal offense to sell to a minor,” ABLE Senior Agent Gina Prott said. “It is a felony in Oklahoma. You can be arrested. Also an administrative ticket would've been issued to the person who made the sell."
