An arrest has been made in the recent bomb threats in Stillwater. Stillwater police arrested an eighth grade student after using video surveillance from Stillwater Jr. High Tuesday afternoon.

Twice in less than a week authorities rushed to Stillwater schools following threats found in bathroom stalls. Last Thursday a Stillwater Middle School student found a bomb threat scribbled on the bathroom wall.

As police began investigating, news of the threat spread and caught the attention of the technology company Flir.

“They called us said we have the devices they are manufactured right here in Stillwater we can send you some devices and personnel to teach you how to run them,” said Captain Kyle Gibbs.

Within an hour of testing, investigators were able to clear the school of any threat

But Stillwater police borrowed the device again Monday after a similar threat was found by two junior high girls in a bathroom.

“The thing that you like to think is that this is a copycat, but we can't afford to think that way. We treated it as if it was an isolated incident,” said Stillwater Junior High Principal John Fields.

Again, the device didn't find any trace of explosives inside the junior high.

“Regardless of their intentions, the investigation goes on to identify the people responsible,” said Captain Gibbs.

Stillwater Public Schools said it's still working to identify a suspect who made the threat at the middle school.
