My 2 Cents: Bergdahl Trade Is Unfair To Those Who Served With Honor and Distinction

The prisoner swap for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl looked bad to me when it was made last May, it's looking ever worse now.

The prisoner swap for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl looked bad to me when it was made last May, it's looking ever worse now.

We all want every last one of our service men and women to return to the United States after serving, but the Bergdahl story certainly makes me wonder how you justify trading him for five Taliban leaders at Gitmo.

Not only is Bergdahl facing charges for deserting his post in Afghanistan, but information leaking out from an NCIS investigation six years ago just after he disappeared, points toward treason.

That investigation reportedly found that Bergdahl didn't just desert but tried to seek out the Taliban and other enemies. It reportedly also found that the Sgt. hoped to travel to Uzbekistan and to get into contact with the Russian mafia.

This was all allegedly uncovered six years ago, so it makes no sense why the White House would hold a Rose Garden ceremony with his parents to celebrate his release, and say that he served with "honor and distinction."

They knew that wasn't true.

It's grossly unfair to the thousands and thousands of Americans who actually do serve with honor and distinction.

I'm Kelly Ogle and that's My 2 Cents.
