Police have safely located the 12-year-old Oklahoma City girl at the center of an abduction hoax.

An Amber Alert for Ashley Schoenecke was canceled after the girl's younger brother said he made up the abduction story.

The Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office issued an Amber Alert for Schoenecke on Tuesday evening after she disappeared while taking out the trash at her home located at 13000 block of S.E. 29th Street in Oklahoma City.

Deputies said an eyewitness saw an older white male driving a silver Nissan Quest stop and get out of the vehicle, open a door and Schoenecke got into the vehicle.

Just before 10 a.m. an Oklahoma City Police spokesperson told News 9 that Ashley has been safely located. According to police, there was no man involved in this and the brother made up the story about a man. The girl just ran away from home on her own. No other details have been released.

Deputies told our crew on scene this isn't the first time the girl has run away from her home. The last time she did it she was located at a nearby home.
