An Oklahoma City K9 dog was attacked while pursuing a suspected car thief in southeast Oklahoma City.

Police arrested 35-year-old John Emberson after a K9 officer spotted a stolen truck near Interstate 35 and SE Grand Blvd. The truck was reported stolen from the Old Paris Flea Market, located near SE 15th and Eastern, on Saturday.

According to police, when the officer initiated a traffic stop on the truck, Emberson pulled over and took off on foot. The officer released his K9 dog, Kayne, who quickly ran Emberson down.

Emberson tried to punch and fight with Kayne but was eventually subdued. Kayne did not suffer any serious injuries.

Emberson was arrested and booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on one count of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and Assault and Battery on a Police Dog. Details on a possible bond were not available.
