SCU Hires Dave Bliss To Run Basketball Program

Southwestern Christian University is set to introduce Dave Bliss as head basketball coach on Wednesday.

Bliss is known for being the head coach at Baylor in 2003 when a player was murdered by a teammate. Bliss' alleged involvement with the attempted cover-up earned him a 10-year “show cause” notice from the NCAA in 2005, effectively banning Bliss from coaching in the college ranks until 2015.

He's been coaching in the high school ranks in Texas. Bliss has more than 500 wins spanning 28 years as a coach at Oklahoma, SMU, New Mexico and Baylor. He's taken a team to the NCAA Tournament 10 times.
