An Oklahoma City panhandler is accused of threatening another panhandler with a machete during an argument over a corner.
Witnesses told police Sumner Haggard and Edward Harrison were exchanging words over a corner near S.W. 89th Street and Interstate 44 on Friday, April 3.
According to Haggard, Harrison told him he'd “cut him from a** to cheek.” Haggard told police he then went to his bicycle to get his machete, but did not use it or “raise it above his head.”
According to Harrison, Haggard wanted to “settle this in the woods.” And Harrison agreed to the fight in the woods. Harrison said Haggard grabbed the machete and threatened him by saying, “I'll cut your f***ing face off.”
In the police report, authorities said they took Haggard into custody. While searching his backpack, police said they found a hypodermic syringe in a case. Haggard told police he was not diabetic and voluntarily asked, “Am I going to jail for the paraphernalia?”
Haggard was booked on complaints of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, among other charges from previous warrants.
