Two small earthquakes were recorded near Medford, Okla., in Grant County Wednesday evening. And a third shook up residents near Crescent, in Logan County.
The first 3.0 magnitude earthquake struck at approximately 7:46 p.m. Its epicenter was located 16 miles south southeast of Medford, 19 miles northeast of Enid, and 30 miles west southwest of Ponca City at a depth of just over two miles.
The second 3.3 magnitude earthquake struck at approximately 9:10 p.m. Its epicenter was located 16 miles west of Medford, 27 miles north northwest of Enid, and 52 miles west of Ponca City.
The third 3.4 magnitude earthquake struck at approximately 10:05 p.m. Its epicenter was located 12 miles north of Crescent, 19 miles north northwest of Guthrie, and 25 miles southeast of Enid.
No injuries or damages associated have been reported.
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest ones felt by humans. Damage is more likely with quakes at magnitudes 4.0 and higher.
