An Oklahoma City mother was arrested on multiple complaints, including child neglect and cocaine possession, after police said she left her children alone at home.
According to police, at about 9:30 p.m. Friday, officers responded to the report of a child being found at 7-Eleven, located at 1628 N. Rockwell. The caller said he had found a child walking west on south side of N.W. 16th. He brought the child to the store and called police.
Officers spoke with the 4-year-old girl, who was able tell them where she lives. Officers went to the child's apartment, where they found another 1-year-old child.
Police learned that the children's mother, 29-year-old Deidra Nicole Coley, had left the children home alone.
Officers said they contacted DHS. While waiting for DHS workers, Coley reportedly returned to the apartment. Police said she was visibly intoxicated. Officers then took her into custody.
According to police, officers also spoke with the children's father, who said he had left the apartment to avoid getting into a fight with Coley, as Coley was drunk and yelling at him. At that time, he said Coley's mother was at the apartment, so he felt comfortable leaving the children there.
While Coley was being booked into the Oklahoma County Jail, officers said they found a plastic baggie containing a white substance, later tested positive for cocaine, in Coley's pocket.
Coley is being held at the Oklahoma County Jail on complaints of child neglect, possession of CDS-cocaine, and bringing contraband into jail.
