3.3 Magnitude Earthquake Recorded Near Perry

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported an earthquake near Perry Tuesday evening.

The 3.3 magnitude quake shook the area six miles west, southwest of Perry and 21 miles west, northwest of Stillwater at 10:15 p.m., according to the USGS.

The earthquake was nearly two miles deep.

There are no reports of major injury or damage at this time.

According to the USGS, earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest ones felt by humans. Damage is more likely from quakes at a 4.0 magnitude and higher.
