A suspect in the murder of Australian native Christopher Lane in Duncan, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty on Tuesday.

A suspect in the murder of Australian native Christopher Lane in Duncan, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty on Tuesday.

Michael Jones, 19, pleaded guilty to his role in the murder of Australian native, Christopher Lane. Lane was gunned down while jogging in Duncan, Oklahoma, on August 16, 2013.

Jones, one of three defendants in the case, was charged with first-degree murder. But in a surprise move by the state, prosecutors amended the charges against Jones Tuesday afternoon.

Stephens County District Attorney Jason Hicks said Jones pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to life in prison.

Jones is expected to testify against co-defendant Chancey Luna, 17.

A third defendant, James Edwards Jr., testified against Luna and Jones in a preliminary hearing last year.
