Thief Steals Retired Pottawatomie County Deputy's Badge, Gun

Posted: Updated:
WEATHERFORD, Oklahoma -

A former Sheriff's Deputy is worried his badge and gun are now in the wrong hands.

Chris Hurley is a retired deputy from Pottawatomie County, but still carries his gun with his old badge on the holster. He says someone stole them out of his car two weeks ago outside the Weatherford Performing Arts Center.

Now he's worried someone will use the gun to commit a crime.

"Very unsettling for me to think that somebody could do that with my gun and it was my responsibility to keep safety and security of that weapon and I failed that,” Hurley told News 9.

“It will be hard for me to face anybody that possibly could be injured from that."

A bottle of prescription medicine was also stolen. If you have any information regarding this crime, please contact police.
