An apartment complex in northeast Oklahoma City is rattled after a dozen gunshots were fired through one unit late on Friday just after 9:30 p.m.

Paramedics took four people to the hospital.

The shooting happened at the Chaparral Townhouses.

Bullet hole after bullet hole riddled the entire window pane of one particular downstairs unit.

There are nine total, and around the corner there were two more, leaving so many questions for nearby residents.

"What happened, it just got too serious, there are too many bullet holes," said Briyah Morris, whose family lives at the apartments.

Oklahoma City police were on scene at the Chaparral Townhouses near N.E. 13th Street and Lincoln to investigate on Friday night. Officers got the call that the typically quiet complex had erupted in gunfire.

"They heard gunshots then very, very quiet, they heard some yelling, then gunshots then very quiet again," said Oklahoma City Police Lt. Gamill Hardin.

It wasn't long before crime scene investigators learned four people had been shot while inside the same apartment. The gunman shot from outside and then took off.

Trineta Marshall said she was pulling up to the complex as police cars had it surrounded.

She said it is unsettling knowing a suspect is still on the run.

"I'm like wow that's too close to home, and I have a 5-month-old son," said Marshall, who has lived in the complex for six months.

Residents said a young woman, who just had a baby lived inside the apartment that was hit.

Saturday, blood could be seen splattered on the door and a long trail of blood in the walkway and even in the grass.

"I'm concerned because we have kids, and that could've been one of the kids or something," Morris said.

“It's kind of eerie because we have to watch for these little ones, but again, it's nothing new.”

Many residents believe the shooting was gang-related and hope police catch the suspect soon.

"I'll just try to watch my surroundings now so nothing will happen," Marshall said.

Three of the four people shot Friday night are expected to be OK, while one is still being treated at the hospital in critical condition.

So far, police have not released any kind of suspect description.
