McCLAIN COUNTY, Oklahoma -

An Oklahoma teacher crossed the line by having sex with a 15-year-old student. She recently learned her fate and the victim's family made one big request to prosecutors. News 9 first reported the incident back in 2013, and it took a year before the woman went before a judge. This week she accepted a deal with prosecutors.

Michele Benson was a junior high at Washington Public Schools before a 15-year-old boy came forward about a relationship Benson had developed with him. Investigators were able retrieve texts messages between the two as well as a picture.

“It did take longer than what we would have hoped,” McClain County Assistant District Attorney Brian Hall said. “A lot of that is there had to be some forensics analysis of some computers, and that takes a lot of time, and once that was worked up, we were able to pursue charges on this case.”

Court documents stated Benson began texting the boy and sent him "nude pictures" that she later claimed were from the internet and were not of her.

“What we have here is a picture that was sent to a child via phone from what appeared to be a ‘Go Phone' or something of that nature which was very difficult to track,” Hall said.

Records also show Benson sent the boy a text telling him to "meet her at the baseball fields." From there Benson "drove him to her grandmother's house" and the two "rubbed on each other." Documents stated a sexual encounter occurred. Prosecutors worked with the boy's family in deciding how to proceed with the case.

“They were terribly concerned making sure she couldn't teach again, and hopefully this will make sure that it doesn't happen,” Hall said.

Benson has to register as a sex offender for the next 10 years, has probation for 10 years, spends weekends in jail and had to forfeit her teaching license.
