OKLAHOMA CITY -

Metro police continue to investigate a suspicious death from Thursday morning in southeast Oklahoma City. A 39-year-old man was found lying in a driveway with gunshot wounds around 8 a.m. by a neighbor.

Thursday evening police are trying to determine whether the man was shot by someone else, or if he accidentally shot himself. The unknowns surrounding his death have many neighbors feeling uneasy.

“It has slowly gone downhill. You know it was nice neighborhood 30 years ago. It's just getting worse and worse. And now this,” said a neighbor.

One woman, who asked to remain unidentified, has lived in this neighborhood for close to 30 years.

“It's just a bad neighborhood and it's getting worse all the time,” she said.

Learning of her neighbor's death this morning now has her on edge.

Police found Robert Dickson shot in this driveway. Dickson was taken to OU Medical Center where he later died. And now the uncertainly surrounding his death has this woman thinking it's time to move.

“I just can't handle it any more. I just can't,” she said. “It's scary you know to know this stuff is going on around so close to me.”

Thursday morning the sight of police and emergency crews on SE 40th St. pulled her and neighbors out of their homes. They tell News 9, sadly, the sound of gunshots are common in this neighborhood.

“It's part of the neighborhood. I hear it all the time,” said the neighbor.

But Wednesday night through Thursday morning neighbors say they heard nothing.

Police continue to investigate and ask for anyone with information to call the Homicide Tip Line at (405) 297-1200.
