A welfare check Monday morning led to the discovery of deplorable conditions at an Oklahoma City home and 25 dogs. That's right – 25.

Animal Welfare said officers found the dogs in filthy conditions inside and outside a home on N.W. 6th Street.

Animal Welfare Superintendent Julie Bank said all of the dogs were seized by officers. The dogs will be given much-needed baths, checked out medically, spayed and neutered, and then will be adopted out starting Thursday.

“There were a couple of people living in the home, and they were individuals who need help themselves as well as needing assistance for the animals,” Bank said.

She said the people will not be charged with a crime.

However, she said hoarding cases like this are becoming more common.
