3.0 Magnitude Quake Shakes Near Perry

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported an earthquake near Perry Monday evening.

The 3.0 magnitude earthquake shook the area 11 miles east, northeast of Perry and 16 miles north of Stillwater at 7:04 p.m., according to the USGS.

The quake was nearly two miles deep.

There are no reports of major injury or damage at this time.

According to the USGS, earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest ones felt by humans. Damage is more likely from quakes at a 4.0 magnitude and higher.
