A former Kay County nursing home administrator is accused of taking money from a resident's trust account to pay for personal items.

Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt filed Medicaid fraud charges against Kari Sawyer, 35.  Sawyer worked at Shawn Manor in Ponca City between June 2011 and November 2012.

Pruitt's office said she stole from the trust fund twice. After she was terminated, Pruitt said Sawyer told the owner in a text she had taken at least $2,225.

Prosecutors filed three counts of financial exploitation by caretaker in Kay County district court.

Court records show she has a court appearance set for June 5.
