A Yukon middle school student got the surprise of a lifetime Tuesday night when she came face-to-face with her favorite weatherman.

News 9 Chief Meteorologist David Payne surprised Lydia at Kennard Farms, where she was taking part in classes at the Savannah Station Therapeutic Riding Program.

Lydia has Muscular Dystrophy and takes part in the class each week, where riders saddle up and partner with therapy horses to cultivate cognitive, social, and emotional confidence, and defy their disabilities.

Lydia is a huge weather fanatic and although shy at first, it didn't take her long to start peppering David with weather questions. They talked about his storm chasing days, the biggest tornado he's ever seen, and what it takes to be a meteorologist among other things.

David rattled off storm dates, sizes, the paths they took and anything else you can think of for about 15 minutes. He also helped Lydia with her therapy and encouraged her to pursue her dream of becoming a meteorologist.

When David finally left an hour and a half later, the two were already making plans to have Lydia come to the station at the first glimpse of spring storms.

We are not sure who got more out of the visit, Lydia or David!
