Oklahoma sophomore Sheldon Neuse has been recognized as the Big 12 Player of the Week. A preseason All-American selection, he twice earned the Big 12 Rookie of the Week honor in 2014 before being named the Big 12 Freshman of the Year.

Neuse came on strong this week for an Oklahoma team that went 3-1. He hit .688 (11-for-16), blasted three home runs and two doubles, while slugging 1.375 with a .722 on-base percentage. Neuse added 10 runs driven in, eight scored and two stolen bases.

The Sooner shortstop started the week with a five-RBI game, including a home run, while going 3-for-3 against Arkansas-Little Rock (3/3). On Saturday, he recorded his first career four-hit game on a perfect 4-for-4 showing with a home run, a double and two RBI. In the weekend finale, Neuse hit a game-tying solo home run as he went on to finish the game at 3-for-4 with two RBI.

Neuse saw his batting average climb over 100 points as he entered the week hitting just .235. For the season, he is hitting .343 with a league-leading 22 RBI, 16 runs and five home runs.

The award is the third weekly award for an Oklahoma individual from the Big 12 through four weeks season. Sophomore right-hander Jake Elliott was selected as the Pitcher of the Week (2/16) and junior infielder Kolbey Carpenter was the Player of the Week (2/23).
