OU Linebacker Eric Striker Apologizes For Explicit Rant Over Fraternity Racist Video

Posted: Updated:
NORMAN, Oklahoma -

OU football linebacker Eric Striker is apologizing for an explicit rant that he posted on SnapChat, in response to a video surfaced online showing members of OU fraternity SAE chanting racial slurs.

In the video posted to SnapChat, Striker can be heard screaming,

"I'm so motherf******* furious right now!

SAE just f***** it up for all you f****** white fraternities.

F*** all you b****** and if anything you motherf******* are affiliated with, f*** you too.

Same motherf****** talkin' about racism don't exist be the same motherf****** that be shakin' our hands, givin' us hugs, tellin' how you really love us... f*** you phony a**, fraud a** b******."

The Oklahoma Daily reports that Striker's video has been a topic of conversation on social media, following OU's chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon's closure.

During a peaceful protest at the OU campus Monday morning, Striker spoke to News 9 Reporter Jessica Holley.

“There has been some issues, as athletes that we have, that we feel like have not been addressed,” Striker said.

Monday afternoon, in a video posted to Charles Tapper's twitter, Striker apologized for the explicit language used in his rant.

"I just want to apologize for my language on the SnapChat video of me. I'm not apologizing for how I feel. I'm hurt. My heart is hurting. But I do apologize for the curse words," Striker said in the video.

The 10-second video clip showing SAE members chanting racial slurs first surfaced sometime early Sunday afternoon and immediately went viral. The footage appears to be shot by a passenger on a bus with several members of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.

In the brief video, you can hear and see the members loudly chanting together, "There will never be a n***** SAE." SAE is a reference to the fraternity's Greek letters. The chant repeats the first verse, then goes on to say, "You can hang them from a tree, but they'll never sign with me."

Overnight, a second video showing the same group repeating that chant appeared on Instagram.

OU President David Boren released a new statement Monday morning, saying that the university has severed all ties with the local SAE chapter.

Sigma Alpha Epsilon's national headquarters has confirmed the students in the video are from its OU chapter and they have taken swift action. All of the members have been suspended, and those members who are responsible for the incident may have their membership privileges revoked permanently.
