OK Law Enforcement Officers 'Plunge' Into Cold Water For Good Cause

Law enforcement officers from across the Oklahoma City metro area dressed up as their favorite characters and plunged into freezing water Saturday morning for a good cause.

The 2015 Annual Polar Plunge took place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at White Water Bay in Oklahoma City. The event benefits Special Olympics Oklahoma.

Some Oklahoma City police officers even dressed up as the “Green Army Men” as they dived into frigid water. Several Oklahoma County Sheriff's deputies dressed up as “Ninja Turtles” as they took the plunge.

Oklahoma City Police Department recruit class #133 and Oklahoma Highway Patrol class #63 participated in Friday afternoon's Polar Plunge. OCPD class 133 has raised over $4,500 for the more than 9,500 Special Olympics athletes.

The statewide goal for the 2015 Annual Polar Plunge is to raise $300,000 or more for Special Olympics Oklahoma. The goal for Oklahoma City Polar Plunge is $60,000.

All of the money raised stays right here in Oklahoma to support programs for more than 10,500 Special Olympics Oklahoma athletes, according to Jennifer Lightle, Special Olympics Oklahoma Development Director.
