The threat of winter weather forced Oklahoma City Public Schools to call off classes Wednesday, and several other school districts followed suit.
Many school districts across the state, including Edmond Public Schools, El Reno Public Schools and more, have canceled classes on Wednesday. Several universities are also closed, including the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma City University, and more.

Colder air is moving into the state Wednesday morning and bringing increased precip chances. This system is producing drizzle and rain. This will quickly transition to freezing rain by mid-morning, then sleet and by early afternoon changing over to snow.
Temperatures will fall into the 20s by afternoon and into the teens by Wednesday night. Snow totals for the OKC metro area are expected to be 1”-3” by the time this event is over.
By your drive time home Wednesday afternoon, there may be some travel issues over much of Oklahoma. So prepare for this. Warmer weather is on the horizon.
City crews with Oklahoma City said 27 trucks will hit the streets and start salting the city's snow routes once snow begins to fall Wednesday morning. Crews will drive snow routes around the clock until the weather improves, city officials said.
The wintry mix is expected to disrupt travel through Thursday.

Many flight cancellations have been reported at the Will Rogers Airport in Oklahoma City, including United 3761 from Oklahoma City to Atlanta originally set to depart at 6:33 a.m., and Southwest 469 from Oklahoma City to Atlanta originally set to depart at 6:45 a.m.
Southwest 1437 set to arrive in Oklahoma City from Houston at 9 a.m. has also been canceled.
