ODOT: $71M Project Work Starts Monday, No Immediate Travel Impacts

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) said work will begin on the state's largest road project on Monday, despite weekend snowfall. But ODOT officials said drivers in the area should not expect to be impacted Monday by the construction at the beginning of the workweek.

Cody Boyd, with ODOT, said contractors plan to begin work in Norman at the start of the month by mobilizing equipment near the I-35 ramps to State Highway 9 east. Expect to see workers in the area, but lanes and ramps will not be narrowed for your Monday morning commute.

The $71 million project will widen I-35 from four to six lanes and will replace the State Highway 9 East and Lindsey Street interchanges.

Once the contractor begins on March 2, ODOT officials said it will take approximately two years to complete.
