OKLAHOMA CITY -

According to the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, slick and hazardous highway conditions have been reported statewide.

A band of winter precipitation continues to move across Oklahoma. This will impact the evening rush hour Friday night, especially in the Oklahoma City and Tulsa metro areas.

Drivers are urged to plan ahead for extra travel time. Driving conditions will be slow in many areas, and caution will be needed on bridges, overpasses and ramps. Allow ample room for braking and drive for the conditions.

Right now, crews from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation are treating areas with salt and sand also in plowing operations as needed.

Drivers should remain alert to these trucks working in the overnight hours, and stay at least 200 feet behind.

Black ice conditions could quickly develop tonight, and unnecessary travel is discouraged.

If drivers must travel out of state, they are urged to check area road conditions before heading out.
