Snow Showers Expected Throughout The Weekend Across Oklahoma

Posted: Updated:
OKLAHOMA CITY -

No weather problems Thursday evening across the state just a cold north breeze under cloudy skies. Overnight temperatures will fall into the middle to upper teens by morning.

The next weather system by the time we wake up in the morning will be effecting western and southwestern half the state with some light snow. This light snow will spread northeast through the day but will likely weaken through the day.

Whatever falls through the day on Friday will be all snow as temperatures will only climb into the middle 20s. Snowfall amounts will be 1-3 inches across far western Oklahoma into southwestern Oklahoma. Here in central Oklahoma and into the metro will range from a dusting to around an inch & half.

The first system departs by late afternoon into Friday evening before the next storm system arrives Friday night into Saturday morning. This system will likely spread light snow across a central and northern half of the state by Saturday morning.

Then by Saturday afternoon as warmer air moves in from the south, we'll likely see some light freezing rain and sleet across central and southern Oklahoma. While some light snow will linger into Saturday evening.

Light freezing drizzle and light freezing rain will be possible across central Oklahoma for Saturday night. Across southern Oklahoma temperatures will slowly climb above freezing as warmer air moves in.

By Sunday, most of the precipitation comes to an end across the state with some lingering light freezing drizzle and light snow across northern Oklahoma. Highs on Sunday will be in the 30s to low 40s.

A very changeable forecast and News 9 will continue to update the forecast as it evolves. Make sure you keep checking back to the latest as there will likely be some difficult travel conditions across the state tomorrow into the weekend.
