Anonymous donors have stepped up to help some distraught Oklahoma City boy scouts.

A thief or thieves stole the scouts' trailers and all their equipment over the weekend. But a day after News 9 aired the story, Boy Scout Troop 47 received the best news of all.

Just a few days after losing trailers to thieves, the troop is getting replacements thanks to donors.

“I was really surprised. I was really surprised at the fast turnaround and it moved me immensely,” said assistant scout master Bradley Wynn.

On Saturday, the troop discovered someone stole two of their three trailers from a church parking lot. The gate lock was sawed off and pieces of the taillight were scattered everywhere.

Donors came forward because boy scouts has been very important in their family, they are all outdoorsmen and they wanted to make sure the legacy continues with this troop.

“This is amazing, I mean it's absolutely wonderful to have somebody reach out from the community and give us such a gift,” troop parent Nicole Terrel told News 9.

The new $4,600 trailer is actually larger, safer, better and more fuel efficient than the trailer they lost. Another anonymous donor replaced the troop's smaller trailer with a barely used one.

“It shows that what we do matters. It shows that the community really is supportive of what scouting represents,” said Wynn. “They've really come out of the woodwork for us.”

The troop plans to wrap the trailers with their logos so they are easily identifiable, place GPS trackers inside them and try to find an enclosed area to store them. The boys will find out about both new trailers at their next meeting on Monday.

“Oh they are going to be so excited, they are just, the boys will to lose it, I mean, they're going to be so happy,” Terrel explained.

Their next goal is to fill up the trailers with all the equipment that was lost -- which totaled more than $10,000 because they had just packed for a camping trip.

The group is challenging others to clean out the garages and donate used camping gear and supplies. The boy scouts are hoping to regroup by summer camp time.
