A tanker truck jackknifed on a rural road to the north of Edmond, Sunday night.
The single-vehicle crash occurred near E. Simmons Rd. and S. Midwest Blvd. just after 8:30 p.m.
According to police, the truck was trying to make a turn when its load became unhitched and rolled. The tanker was hauling about 8,400 gallons of crude oil. Luckily, the crash did not cause any of the oil to spill.
Authorities shut down Midwest Blvd. to the north of Waterloo Rd. while crews work to clean up the scene. The driver of the tanker was not injured.
The cause of the crash is under investigation, although authorities do not believe the road conditions played a role.
