My 2 Cents: President Obama Steps Up The War On Islamic Extremists

There's already a lot of second guessing, but President Obama did the right thing Wednesday, telling the American people we're stepping up our war on Islamic extremists terrorizing the Middle East.

I said Tuesday night, the White House is going to have to commit to this fight, and it appears they are.

The President's call for an authorization to use military force is being criticized for being short on specifics and strategy, but do we really want ISIS to know those things, I just as soon they didn't.

The President is asking for Congress to approve sustained airstrikes on Iraq and Syria, training of troops in Syria, humanitarian aid.

He says it's not going to be a ground war, that's unnecessary, that remains to be seen though.

And while some are saying President Obama asking for a three year authorization amounts to another pullout time-line ISIS can simply out-wait, I disagree.

He says it will force Congress to revisit the war authorization at that point and that's not bad.

Lawmakers will now have a chance to add some more teeth to the fight against ISIS if they deem it necessary.
