A Goldsby veterans group is one step closer to a new permanent home.

“Veterans Corner” has been operating out of the Goldsby Community Center each Thursday morning for several years.

But former Marine Vietnam Veteran and group Founder Dale Graham said $300,000 in donations over the years have allowed crews to break ground on a new 8,000 sq. ft. facility a mile and a half West of Riverwind Casino on Highway 9.

“I don't like it when the veterans come in there and see me and they tell me last month my wife got her medicine, this month I get mine. No, this is America; it's not supposed to be like that.” Graham said he hopes to open the new facility by summer.

He said the new space will allow volunteers to serve veterans in need more than just one morning a week. “As soon as I have four walls up and a roof I'm going to start working veterans. If I got to bring in some lights and set them up in there I'm going to do it. We are going to make a difference in those people's lives,” he said Wednesday afternoon.
