Investigation Continues Into Officer-Involved Shooting In Sulphur

A woman, a police officer and an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper are in the hospital after a standoff in Sulphur, Oklahoma, Monday night.

A woman, a police officer and an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper are in the hospital after a standoff in Sulphur, Oklahoma, Monday night.

The woman was flown from Sulphur to OU Medical Center in serious condition. Sulphur police said they shot her after she fired first at officers and OHP troopers on the scene.

According to Sulphur police, the 35-year old woman was upset over a relationship she had. At about 3 p.m. Monday she grabbed a rifle and barricaded herself inside a pet grooming store.

For about five hours, authorities tried to talk her out. But they said she fired first and hit a trooper in the leg. A Sulphur police officer was also struck in the back.

Both were taken to Arbuckle Memorial Hospital in Murray County and are expected to survive those injuries.
