Family Confronted By Robber With Chainsaw At Metro Gas Station

A family was confronted by a robber wielding a chainsaw.

Surveillance cameras at a gas station near S.W. 44th Street and Agnew Avenue captured the incident overnight.

"We are all about to be in pieces, about to be dead, " Shania Johnson said. Several thoughts rushed through her mind when the suspect lunged toward her with a chainsaw.

Johnson and her family had pulled into the parking lot of the gas station just moments before the encounter with suspect, 34-year-old Michael Pierce.

According to police reports, Pierce approached the family and demanded money.

He threatened to kill the family, including the kids sitting the back seat of the car.

"He was just vroom, vroom, vroom, coming after us," Johnson said, "It was actually running, like black smoke coming out ... gasoline, I mean like Texas Chainsaw Massacre."

Johnson managed to drive away with her family unharmed.

Police said Pierce didn't stop there.

He was accused of later kicking in the back door of a house just across the street.

The two people in the house called 911 and police were able to track him down.

Police said when confronted by officers, Pierce said Johnson and her family were trying kill him, but after some investigating they determined it was the other way around.

"The guy needs some help," said Johnson.

According to court records, Pierce has a lengthy criminal record including convictions for drug possession and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

He was arrested and booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on complaints of robbery with a dangerous weapon and first degree burglary.

A bond has not been set.
