Energy FC Releases 2015 Schedule

USL PRO unveiled Energy FC's 2015 regular season schedule on Monday. The schedule features 28 matches, including 14 home matches at renovated Taft Stadium in Oklahoma City. Energy FC opens on the road against Tulsa on Saturday, March 28 in the first of four meetings between the in-state rivals. OKC opens at Taft Stadium on Saturday, April 18 against the Seattle Sounders 2.

“We are happy to be on the brink of what promises to be an exciting USL PRO season,” said Energy FC Head Coach Jimmy Nielsen. “It's our goal to play attractive soccer and be a great advertisement for the game. We are going to make a good run at the playoffs and want our fans with us every step of the way.”

Energy FC plays in the newly aligned USL PRO western conference and plays each conference rival on the road and at home. Those teams include the Arizona United, Austin Aztex, Colorado Springs Switchbacks, LA Galaxy II, Orange County Blues, Portland Timbers 2, Real Monarchs, Sacramento Republic, Seattle Sounders 2, Tulsa Roughnecks and Vancouver Whitecaps 2. Energy FC also faces two USL PRO eastern conference opponents in Louisville on the road and a home-and-home with St. Louis FC.

The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup opening round is set for May 20 with the subsequent rounds on May 27, June 17 and June 22.

“The schedule is something everyone at the club, as well as our fans, have eagerly been waiting for,” said Energy FC General Manager Jason Hawkins. “It makes it real, as you can now truly plan out the year from a technical standpoint. We're excited to see the new opponents, especially in the central part of the United States. The countdown begins now.”

The 2015 season brings changes to USL PRO's single-elimination playoff format with the top six finishers in each conference moving on to the four-week postseason. Teams will be seeded No. 1 through No. 6 in each conference, with the top two seeds receiving first-round byes and the No. 3 seed hosting the No. 6 seed and the No. 4 seed hosting the No. 5 seed.

The winner of the No. 3 vs. No. 6 game will then travel to face the No. 2 seed, and the winner of the No. 4 vs. No. 5 game will travel to face the No. 1 seed. The winners will meet in the Eastern & Western Conference Championship games with the remaining two teams advancing to square off in the 2015 USL PRO Championship, hosted by the higher seeded club.
