MIDWEST CITY, Oklahoma -

Two Midwest City men are in hot water for trying to imitate the Dukes of Hazzard boys. They tried to slide across the hood of a car, but they chose the wrong car.

The chief said the combination of alcohol and a terrible attempt to mimic Bo Duke was all caught on camera.

Just a good ole boys, never meaning no harm, but the two guys caused $1,000 in damages.

“There's not a lot of humor in law enforcement this day in age as you know, what 's going around the nation. But in this case because of stupidity, it's actually a pretty interesting case,” said Midwest City Police Chief Brandon Clabes.

The guys tried to slide across the hood of an officer's patrol car while she was checking the Henry Hudson Bar and others for compliance.

After the first guy did it, you can see on the video where he talked the second guy into it, too. The second slide turned into the man basically sitting down on the hood.

The officer did not realize what had happened until she saw the dent on the hood the next morning.

It turns out, the officer had unknowingly arrested the second man, Ronald Ray, for public intoxication and assault in an unrelated call hours after the hood slides.

He was in jail when officers interviewed him.

“He said he was too intoxicated to remember he was even at Henry Hudson's, but when he saw the video, he said, ‘There ain't no lying that that's me,'” Chief Clabes told News 9.

Court papers said Ray's friend, Anthony Wolford, also confessed to police, saying, "Yes sir, I did it…I put my butt on the hood."

“He said he tried to do the Dukes of Hazzard across the patrol car and then explained what a Dukes of Hazzard is,” explained Chief Clabes. “It's from the old sitcom where you slide across the hood of a car,” he added.

Clabes said even when you think no one's watching, this proves someone probably is.

The men were not arrested for the hood slides, but both of them are facing misdemeanor charges for maliciously defacing property. They could face up to a year in jail and/or a $500 fine.
