EDMOND, Oklahoma -

For the third time this week, a police chase has ensued through the streets of Edmond.

Police say an officer was following a vehicle traveling southbound on Broadway near Comfort Inn late Thursday night. The suspect vehicle made three lane changes without signaling.

The officer then observed the suspect vehicle accelerate, turn left on a yellow, and lose control hitting two other vehicles that were stopped.

The officer attempted to stop the vehicle but it refused to stop and continued southbound crossing the center line and nearly striking an oncoming car.

The suspect increased speed and turned into the Gateway Apartments. Then, the suspect lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a concrete center median near the front of the complex.

24-year-old Shaker Alsharari was taken into custody for DUI, Leaving the Scene of an Injury Accident, and Attempting to Elude.

There were two other occupants in the vehicle but they were detained and released.

The occupants of the two vehicles Alsharari hit, reported minor injuries. But no one was transported to a hospital. One car had to be towed and the other was operable.
