Crews Contain Grass Fire Near Guthrie

Firefighters have contained a grass fire in the Guthrie area on Thursday.

Firefighters have contained a grass fire in the Guthrie area on Thursday.

According to the fire department, at about 10 a.m., crews responded to the fire near Douglas Blvd. and Camp Dr.

Bob Mills SkyNews 9 HD flew over the scene. Pilot Jim Gardner reported that the fire has burned about 80 to 100 acres. Several hay bales also burned in the area.

Gardner reported that the fire started east of Douglas Blvd., just south of Triplett Rd.. It then burned towards Camp Dr. Firefighters were able to stop it from crossing Douglas.  

The east side of the fire burned into many cedar trees in the area, according to Gardner. 

The fire was burning in an isolated area. So it wasn't threatening any structures.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire. They remain on the scene Thursday afternoon to watch for hot spots. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
