After the success of Guthrie Green, the Kaiser Foundation has another major project underway in the Brady District.

Close to 50,000 square feet of building space - some more than 100 years old - will soon be a brewery, a bakery and apartments.

The alley way just off of Brady and Boston, behind the Tavern Restaurant, will be the only entrance to a soon to open brewery.

It's just one piece to an exciting puzzle of new development downtown.

Piece by piece Main Street in Tulsa is coming back to life, with two of the oldest buildings within the city limits getting rehabbed.

"You see today's vehicles and you know they wouldn't fit through this door, but the Model Ts all fit through here, this was their primary entrance into the showroom," said architect Chris Lilly.

The Universal Ford Building, built in 1917 with almost 37,000 square feet, will soon house a restaurant and brewery run by the minds behind R Bar on Brookside.

Upstairs there will be more than 30 apartments.

And just down Main Street, the old Fox Hotel will be new apartments on the top floor and an Antoniette's Bakery on the ground floor.

"We are so excited. We've been dying to tell people," said Co-owner, Molly Martin.

Martin and Andrea Mohn will be adding a second bakery location with 3,000 square feet in the Brady District.

"Here we're gonna have our giant kitchen and I just can't even believe how much space we will have to produce what we want to do," Mohn said.

The renovation has taken meticulous planning, all the way down to preserving and replicating the original tile from the early 1900s.

"The fact that these buildings are being preserved is a great service to the city and something Tulsa can be really proud of," said Lilly.

Martin said, "We both wanted to do this before we were 30 and now we have our successful business before we're, you know, 35, so we are extremely happy to have this. Grateful."

Anyone who thinks neighborhoods like the Brady are now built to capacity, think again.

"I think this is the next wave of progress that will be seen again and again in years to come," said Lilly.

Nelson hopes to open his restaurant in the Fox building around September with some of the other projects opening in phases in the following months.
