4.0 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Up Grant County
MEDFORD, Oklahoma - More shaking in Grant County as a 4.0 magnitude earthquake rumbled near Medford, Tuesday morning.
The quake struck just before 10 a.m., 13 miles south southeast of Medford, or about 79 miles of the Oklahoma City metro, at a depth of just over a mile.
So far there have not been any reports of damage or injuries associated with this quake. The earthquake was originally reported to be a 4.2 magnitude, but has since been revised down. A 3.1 magnitude earthquake struck in virtually the same area just before 11 a.m. as well.
Earlier in the day, a 3.8 magnitude earthquake was recorded in Grant County at 5:31 a.m.
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest ones felt by humans. Damage is more likely with quakes at magnitudes of 4.0 and higher.
