A man was arrested on multiple complaints, including possession of meth and marijuana, after leading a deputy on a pursuit in Oklahoma County.

According to the Oklahoma County Sheriff's office, just after 1 a.m. on Friday, January 23, a deputy was at the intersection of Highway 74 and N.W. 206th Street when he saw a car run a stop sign. The deputy attempted to stop the car, but the driver refused and the deputy was forced to initiate a pursuit.

The deputy reported that the driver was reaching speeds of 100 mph. At one point, the deputy attempted to stop the driver with a tactical vehicle intervention (TVI,) but the driver swerved into the deputy forcing the deputy away, according to the Sheriff's office.

Shortly after the first attempt, the deputy attempted a second TVI which successfully forced the suspect, 50-year-old Joseph Brewer, off the road into a pasture. Brewer then ran from the vehicle, and initially was able to get out of sight, according to the Sheriff's office.

Oklahoma City Police Department assisted with their helicopter and Brewer was found a short time later hiding beneath some brush. Authorities searched Brewer's car and found a crystal substance believed to be meth and some marijuana. Authorities said Brewer was also driving with a suspended license.

Brewer was booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on complaints of failure to stop at a stop sign, eluding, driving with a suspended license, possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Brewer is currently being held in the Oklahoma County Jail on $6,000 bail.
