Fire danger remained relatively high for Sunday afternoon and early evening with strong northwest winds, dry and dormant vegetation and relatively humidity values hovering around 35 percent.
Winds gusted over 45 mph in some parts of Green Country, which allowed for rapid wildfire expansion.
"Fortunately, temperatures are cooler this afternoon, allowing for higher humidity values than normally associated with high to extreme fire danger days," WARN Team meteorologist Mike Grogan said.
Nonetheless, burning outdoors is highly discouraged and cigarette butts should be disposed of properly. Winds will subside after sunset with a limited fire danger over the next two days with dry air, but lighter winds.
