OSU's Offense Runs Dry In Loss At Kansas St

MANHATTAN, Kansas -

Different game, same story for Oklahoma State.

Phil Forte and Le'Bryan Nash each scored in double digits, but got virtually no help in another Cowboy loss, this time a 63-53 defeat at Kansas State.

OSU played the Wildcats pretty evenly for most of the contest, but this one was perhaps decided in the very first minute. KSU's Nino Williams scored the first bucket of the game, and one possession later, OSU coach Travis Ford received one of the earliest technical fouls in basketball history. Less than a minute in, Ford's temper tantrum gave Marcus Foster two free throws and Kansas State a 4-0 lead. It also gave KSU possession, and Wesley Iwundu's layup put the Cats up 6-0 less than a minute in.

The disastrous start put the offensively-challenged Pokes behind the 8-ball, and they never recovered. OSU got back within three twice in the first half, but never did get closer.

Kansas State led 31-21 at the half and spent most of the second half cruising with a double-figure lead.

Forte scored 22 points and drained all 10 of his free throws. This is Forte's 13th game with at least 17 points this season. Nash added 13 points on 4-of-9 shooting, but struggled to find his shots with the Wildcats' defense swarming him throughout.

Michael Cobbins added seven, but no other Cowboy scored more than three. Anthony Hickey scored just three for OSU after scoring just one in the Pokes' win over Texas Tech on Wednesday. Hickey entered this two-game slump having averaged 10.4 points over his previous five games.

Williams led the Wildcats with 20 points on a blistering 10-of-13 shooting. Star guard Marcus Foster scored 14 for the Cats, atoning for his no-show performance against OSU earlier this season. Foster was held scoreless in just 14 minutes in the Wildcats' 61-47 loss in Stillwater back on Jan. 3.

OSU (13-6, 3-4) has now lost three of its last four in Big 12 play and hosts No. 21 Baylor on Tuesday in Stillwater. KSU (12-8, 5-2) hosts West Virginia on Tuesday.
